‘’Mr Vinylios’' is a vinyl record shop located at the flea market of Monastiraki, in downtown Athens. The store opened in 1993 and offers a large variety of vinyl records, covering all kinds of music genres; from Greek music to jazz, rock, heavy metal and r’n’b.
The shop is run by three friends, Yannis, Dimitris and Yannis. All three are devoted vinyl lovers and that’s what makes them absolutely enjoy their job.
‘’Mr Vinylios’' sells CDs too however the variety is significantly smaller. Besides the owners of the shop don’t hide their preference for old school vinyls. As they told us a CD will never beat a vinyl; the latter produces much better sound, its cover look much better than on a small cd-cover and it never loses its purchase value - there’s an entire industry of people purchasing, collecting, and reselling vinyls.
The prices of the vinyl records being sold at ‘’Mr Vinylios’' vary depending on various factors such as the rarity and the antiquity of the record. One can find both €1 and €100 vinyls.
