A week in Lisbon.

Lisbon (or Lisboa in Portuguese) is the capital of Portugal and one of the most beautiful cities of Europe! Its population is estimated in around 3 million people.

In Lisbon the weather in mid-October is pretty summerish compared to other European capitals and therefore it's undoubtedly a great choice for a week holiday or more!

The airline that flew us to Lisbon was TAP Portugal, the flag carrier airline of Portugal and member of Star Alliance. The direct flight from Luxembourg to the Portuguese capital city lasted almost 2.5 hours and was a very pleasant one; furthermore the staff was very friendly. All in all TAP Portugal was a pleasant experience.

While in Lisbon we stayed at the parish of Parque das Nações, which is around 30 minutes away from the city centre.

Among the areas we visited are Sintra , a mountain in the suburbs of Lisbon and a perfect place to escape especially during the weekends, Belém -located a few kilometres west of Lisbon and the beaches of Carcavelos, Cascais and Estoril. Carcavelos beach is a pretty beach and very convenient to visit as it is located very close to the city of Lisbon. At Guincho Beach in Cascais we tried surfing -and it was quite an experience!

Lastly, being football lovers we could not help but visit one of the most impressive European stadiums and home of Portuguese giants SL Benfica: Estádio da Luz (Stadium of Light).

Unfortunately the days went by really fast and one week after our arrival it was time to head back home.

We flew again directly to Luxembourg with TAP Portugal. Needless to say that they managed to satisfy us again with their excellent service.

To conclude this short trip report, Portugal was a magnificent experience and we highly recommend Lisbon as your upcoming holiday destination!
